YMCA of Greater Toronto announces The McDonald Family YMCA Opening Date
Membership sales officially start today, ahead of the centre’s opening on July 15.
Toronto’s newest YMCA Centre of Community will offer health, fitness, day camp and community programs to Toronto’s King West neighbourhood in the historic Waterworks building.
Toronto – Thursday, June 12, 2025 – The YMCA of Greater Toronto is excited to announce its latest Centre of Community, The McDonald Family YMCA, will open its doors on July 15. Located in the heart of the City of Toronto in the King West neighbourhood, the new 48,000 square-foot facility will bring together families, older adults, youth and newcomers alike. Starting today, people can sign up and become one of the first members of The McDonald Family YMCA.
The McDonald Family YMCA is the 12th YMCA Centre of Community in the Greater Toronto Area. It will offer thousands of residents and families in the King West neighbourhood a vibrant space designed to promote well-being, foster connections, and support personal growth. Members will have access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a 6,000-square-foot gymnasium with a full-size basketball court, a 25-metre aquatic pool, two group fitness studios featuring popular classes such as YMCA Arriba, BodyFit, Bootcamp, MuscleFit, and Yoga, as well as day camps, youth leadership programs and more.

The new centre was made possible by donors who contributed to the YMCA’s capital campaign, including Jenifer and Steve McDonald and the City of Toronto. The Y is named to recognize the McDonald family’s commitment to bringing essential services and a sense of belonging to more people in more neighbourhoods in the GTA.
Those who purchase a membership before the July 15 opening will become a Founding Member and one of the first to experience the new Y and unlock exclusive benefits. Founding Members will have their join fee waived (a savings of $85), receive a special gift, enjoy access to all 12 YMCA health and fitness centres, get preferred scheduling for personal training sessions, and more.
