Leadership Programs
Wilderness Adventure Programs
Our Leadership Programs offer incredible experiences for teens to help them improve their confidence, communication skills and independence. Participants will leave these programs inspired to better themselves and the world around them!
Pine Crest Leadership participants are between the ages of 14 and 16, and sorted into programs based on their age: Junior Leadership, Leadership-in-Training (LIT), and Senior Leadership.
This ensures that leadership programs meet the developmental needs of participants, and build on one another if campers participate year after year.
Note: If you miss the Leadership Selection period and are still interested in having your camper join us for a leadership program in Summer 2026, you can still register for any open spots.
Junior Leadership
All junior programs are intended as a bridge between camper and leader. A variety of elements from the camper experience are still present in this introductory leadership program, although additional learning and responsibilities are added. Campers will begin developing self-awareness to understand their own strengths and struggles. Participants will also be encouraged to act as role models at the camp on a daily basis. Additionally, campers will participate in placements to help teach skills or facilitate activities for younger campers.

Leadership-In-Training
Intermediate programs have a greater focus on group development and performance. Groups will examine topics like group formation, communication and conflict resolution, and healthy group dynamics. Participants are expected to take responsibility for themselves and others to ensure that learning objectives and positive experiences are achieved. Small group success on the out-trip is a main component for learning and performance in these programs.

Senior Leadership
Senior programs aim to prepare participants for leadership in all areas of their lives. Senior programs focus on planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs, camp or community initiatives, and the out-trip. Skills are practiced during placements around camp, working with cabins or support departments, and on the canoe trip.

Additional Courses and Add-ons
Intro to White Water
The white water skills clinic is a program for anyone who is new to white water paddling!
For one week on the Madawaska River, participants will learn all about canoeing in rapids. Most of their time will be spent paddling rapids with brief breaks to discuss how to understand the features of a rapid, paddling strokes, white water rescue, and how to swim in white water. The white water clinic is short and sweet — participants are always surprised by how much fun they have and how much they learn. Participants will set up a home base camp on the first day of the clinic and spend the entirety of the trip on the same camp site. The program will start and finish at Pine Crest.
Fee: $1499
White Water Clinic - Leadership
The white water clinic is a program designed to teach the skills associated with paddling in rapids. Anyone who has paddled white water in the past but would like to improve their skills or build confidence should also consider this program.

Leadership Selection Process
The Leadership Selection Process allows us to assign trips to campers based on their interest and our availability. Here's how it works:
- Take some time before Leadership Selection opens to chat with your participant about which trips they are interested in for summer 2026.
- Leadership Selection will be open from October 13–15. You can submit your choices at any point during this time. It does not matter when you submit your choices. Submitting early does not increase your chances of getting your top choice. Each participant will select their top three program choices and list them in order of interest.
- Once the selection process closes on October 15 at 11:59 pm, we will randomly assign a number to every participant that has applied for the Leadership Selection.
- Our team will work down the master Leadership Selection list chronologically and award programs based on availability.
- If the program your participant has listed as their first choice is full, we move on to their second choice, and then their third choice.
- Please make sure to add three choices for your participant. Selecting only one trip does not increase your participant’s odds of getting on that trip. If their first choice is full and they did not select a second or third choice, they will not get put on any other trips during the initial process.
- Participants are added to a waitlist for each of the program choices they are not awarded a spot in. If you are not awarded any of your three programs, you are added to the top of the waitlists for your indicated programs.
- The Contact Centre will start reaching out to families regarding Leadership Selection results via email on October 20. Once your participant has been awarded a program, you will have 48 hours to accept or decline.
- If a space becomes available, the Contact Centre team will work their way down the waitlist to fill all leadership programs.
- All final offers will be sent out and should be accepted by November 6. If there are any open spots left after this time, they will be opened to the public during early registration on November 11 at 10am.
NOTE: For participants applying for Senior Leadership programs this year, we ask that you sign up for a phone interview time below. The interview window will be from October 6–9. Due to the nature of our Senior Leadership program and the intensity of some of our trips, we are using this interview to gauge tripping and leadership experience to determine suitability for our more senior programs.
