Pine Crest
Description
Already missing camp? Join us from Oct 31-Nov 2 for a leadership weekend where participants will learn hard and soft skills used in running successful canoe trips. A great way for you to learn about the way our Pine Crest staff lead camper trips! Participants will be making route cards, prepping gear and food, learning about on-trip facilitation, learning to use trip equipment and of course how to cook good trip meals. This leadership weekend is also a great way to reconnect with camp and get to experience Pine Crest during our lovely Fall season.
Pine Crest will provide all canoe tripping equipment but asks that participants bring their own sleeping bags as well as overnight essentials like clothing, toiletries, and personal items. Participants are encouraged to bring their own canoe tripping equipment if they wish. See below for a sample packing list!
Arrival begins on Friday October 31 any time after 6:30pm. The first night will be spent reconnecting with our camp community and will have games & snacks for all. Saturday morning we will jump right into the trip skills! We will leave for canoe trip Saturday following breakfast and some food & gear prep - participants will work on their hard skills like portaging, site set-up, cooking, knots, tarps, etc., as well as soft skills like facilitating engaging programs, how to make campers comfortable on trip and more. Post-lunch on Sunday participants will head back to camp to de-prep all of their gear and take some time to process their learnings with their staff & peers. Pick-up will be on Sunday, November 2 beginning at 3:00pm and all participants need to be picked up and have departed by 4pm.
