Description
The Foundation League is a welcoming and supportive introduction to basketball for kids ages 8 to 12 who are new to the game or still learning the basics.
Ideal for players who:
- Have little to no prior basketball experience
- Are learning how to dribble, pass, shoot, and move on the court
- Are just beginning to understand how the game works
- Thrive in a fun, low-pressure team environment
- Are building confidence, communication, and teamwork
- Focus on learning core skills through games and drills
- Modified rules for safety, fairness, and inclusion
- Structured play that ensures all participants are actively involved
- Coaches who teach, mentor, and build confidence
- A positive and encouraging space to make friends and fall in love with the game perfect for kids starting their basketball journey.
First Week is Evaluation Week!All players will participate in fun evaluation activities to help coaches understand their current skill level and place them on balanced teams.
Every player receives a league uniform, and every week, stats are sent to parents — keeping you in the loop with your child’s growth and highlights.
And to top it all off… End-of-Season Banquet!
We celebrate with awards, a fun ceremony, stat cards, and community cheer. It’s our way of recognizing progress, effort, and all the good vibes built throughout the season.
Location
A new state-of-the-art YMCA is now open on Kingston Road in the Upper Beach area. Our newest Centre of Community is a 60,000 square foot, fully accessible facility. Join us as a member, volunteer, or donor and see for yourself the vibrant, supportive community that makes our charity so special. Camp programs are available during school breaks throughout the year.

Notes
To withdraw a participant from a program, you can do so by accessing the participant’s Registration History via your MY Y Account through MyY.YMCAGTA.ORG or by submitting your request to withdraw by email to memberservices@YMCAGTA.ORG
Participants who withdraw from the course more than 7 days prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund. Participants who withdraw from the course less than 7 days prior to the start of the course will receive a refund less 50% of the course fee. No refunds will be granted once the course has started.
CHANGE TO MEMBERSHIP:
If you cancel your paid monthly or yearly membership, your program registration fee may be subject to adjustment based on the rates applicable to your new membership status.
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS:
At the YMCA, we are committed to providing a consistent and high-quality experience for all participants. However, there may be occasions where programs need to be cancelled.
If a program is cancelled due to reasons within the YMCA’s control—such as facility maintenance, staff availability, or scheduling conflicts—a credit will be automatically applied to your account for future use.
Please note that no credits or refunds will be issued for program cancellations resulting from events outside of the YMCA’s control. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather, power outages, or other unforeseen emergencies that impact program delivery.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members and participants.
