Description
The Karate Development Academy is a intensive summer program designed to help young athletes and Karate enthusiasts develop speed, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits. Each day includes Karate training focused on skill development, agility, movement, and karate-specific movements and tactics. Nutrition, focused on planning balanced meals, how to set goals and design effective workouts to meet those goals, and build habits that support a healthy lifestyle. Supervised workouts in the Strength and Conditioning training floor. Instructors will supervise and monitor athletes to make sure they are exercising safely and appropriately. Instructors will help correct form and recommend different weights or activities. This program combines sport skill development, strength training, and health education to develop well-rounded, knowledgeable, and confident athletes.
Prerequisite: Participants must have previously been registered in a YMCA Karate program and have achieved a minimum of a yellow belt.
Special Instructions: Mitts and a mouthguard are mandatory. Wear comfortable clothes that won’t restrict movement. Please bring a water bottle to each session.
Location
This YMCA is located at the heart of one of Toronto's trendiest West End neighborhoods. There's something for everyone at this family-friendly centre featuring child care, camp, community programs, and health and fitness services. Camp programs are available during school breaks throughout the year.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
To withdraw a participant from a program, you can do so by accessing the participant’s Registration History via your MY Y Account through MyY.YMCAGTA.ORG or by submitting your request to withdraw by email to memberservices@YMCAGTA.ORG
Participants who withdraw from the course more than 7 days prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund. Participants who withdraw from the course less than 7 days prior to the start of the course will receive a refund less 50% of the course fee. No refunds will be granted once the course has started.
CHANGE TO MEMBERSHIP:
If you cancel your paid monthly or yearly membership, your program registration fee may be subject to adjustment based on the rates applicable to your new membership status.
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS:
At the YMCA, we are committed to providing a consistent and high-quality experience for all participants. However, there may be occasions where programs need to be cancelled.
If a program is cancelled due to reasons within the YMCA’s control—such as facility maintenance, staff availability, or scheduling conflicts—a credit will be automatically applied to your account for future use.
Please note that no credits or refunds will be issued for program cancellations resulting from events outside of the YMCA’s control. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather, power outages, or other unforeseen emergencies that impact program delivery.
